This book is everything. I've read all of Abby Jimenez's novels, and this one is hands down my favorite. Jacob's portrayal of anxiety felt so relatable, and I saw so much of myself in his character. The way he overanalyzes and replays conversations in his mind is something I deeply connect with, even though not every part of his experience is the same as mine. His tendency to wonder how he could have done things differently really hit home, and the comfort of having those people in your life who are your safe space was beautifully shown.

The way Brianna and Jacob's relationship evolves took me by surprise, but it never felt contrived. Abby Jimenez skillfully handled every twist and turn, making everything flow naturally. I loved watching Brianna and Jacob orbit around each other, both so attuned to one another, but still caught in misunderstandings. It was frustrating that they missed the cues from each other, but it also perfectly illustrated how they were meant for each other, if only they could see beyond their own doubts.

The dual narration was a great choice and really brought Brianna and Jacob's characters to life. The narrators did a fantastic job capturing the emotional depth of the story, and even brought the secondary characters to life with unique personalities.

It was a wonderful audiobook experience.

I didn’t want the story to end and can already tell it’s one I’ll revisit. While this is a bit of a spin-off from Part of Your World, you don’t need to have read that book to enjoy this one. But if you haven’t read any of Abby Jimenez’s books yet, this one will definitely make you want to check out her other works. She’s one of the best authors out there, and you won’t be disappointed.
