This book is beautifully heartbreaking—by the time you turn the last page, your heart will ache but feel so full at the same time. I went in with high expectations after hearing all the rave reviews, but what I got was even more than I had hoped for.
The relationship between Miles and Tate is equal parts frustrating and addictive. Tate knew exactly what she was agreeing to when she entered a no-strings-attached relationship, but she had no idea just how deep Miles' past wounds ran. The book is undeniably steamy, but beyond the passion, there’s a raw emotional depth that completely pulled me in. As the truth about Miles slowly unravels, you see it coming—you know what’s about to break your heart—but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. And when the full weight of his past finally comes to light, be prepared to pick up the shattered pieces of your heart.
The ending? Absolute perfection. The epilogue ties everything together in the most satisfying way, giving me exactly what I needed. No loose ends, no unanswered questions—just the perfect conclusion. This is easily one of my favorite endings in a romance novel.
I also loved the way the story is written, alternating between Tate’s present-day perspective and Miles’ POV from six years ago. At first, I wasn’t sure why it was structured that way, but as the story unfolded, it made perfect sense. I especially appreciated how Miles' chapters read almost like poetry—intimate, raw, and deeply personal, as if straight from a journal. It was heartbreaking to see how closed-off he is in Tate’s timeline, only to switch to his POV and witness just how much emotion he once had.
This book is a standout. One of the best standalone romances I’ve read this year, and I cannot wait to see it adapted into a movie. If you love NA romance or the more mature side of YA, this is a must-read. It won’t disappoint.
