The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
The Kiss Quotient completely won me over. It’s a dual-perspective romance about Stella, an econometrician with Asperger’s, and Michael, an escort with a strict one-night-only rule. Stella has never enjoyed intimacy—she struggles in social situations, dreads dating, and feels constant pressure from her parents to find a husband. So, she takes a logical approach: hire someone to teach her. That’s where Michael comes in. He has his own struggles, taking on clients every Friday night to cover his family’s bills. But Stella is different, and suddenly, one night isn’t enough.
There was so much to love about this book. Knowing that the author also has Asperger’s made Stella’s journey feel even more personal and authentic. I also loved the cultural elements woven throughout—Michael’s Vietnamese heritage, the mentions of Asian films, martial arts, and delicious food. The way the book handled econometrics, Stella’s area of expertise, added another fascinating layer. Some of the sex scenes were a bit much for me, but overall, this was such a unique and heartfelt romance.
