Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
The final book in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, is by far the best of the bunch. While Bella and Edward's marriage was expected, Bella's unexpected pregnancy takes the story in an entirely new direction, becoming the central plot of this book. Her entry into the vampire world has been anticipated since Twilight, but there are plenty of surprising revelations about this world that readers won't see coming.
In Breaking Dawn, Bella is much more confident than before. While she still has a few insecurities, it’s clear that she’s grown. There’s also a lot more humor in this installment, especially from Jacob, which adds a lighthearted touch to the story. The love between Bella and Edward is even more intense, reaffirming my belief that Edward was the right choice for her over Jacob.
It’s interesting that Meyer left the ending somewhat open, hinting at a continuation of the conflict in another book. However, it’s been nine years and nothing further has been written, so I suppose she left the rest to the reader’s imagination. It’s a bit of a letdown, as I would have liked to see the series continue and have some lingering questions answered. Goodbye, Edward—I’ll miss you. Now that I’ve reread the entire series, I’m ready to watch the movie adaptations again. Can’t get enough of Robert Pattinson as Edward!
