28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand
Book & Audiobook Review:
Can you imagine yourself living out a “Same Time Next Year” kind of romance?
This audiobook captured that feeling beautifully, with excellent narration that brought the story to life in a captivating way. Although the "play-by-play" style initially threw me off, it quickly grew on me, and I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. Elin's writing strikes a lovely balance—action-packed yet rich in descriptive detail that paints vivid pictures of the surroundings.
The story was compelling enough to keep me listening for hours. The lives of Jake and Mallory, along with their friends and family, pulled me in, and I couldn't help but root for them all the way through. I became invested in their journey, eagerly awaiting each new chapter of their lives.
While the audiobook was generally an engaging experience, one thing that slightly irked me was the repetitive use of "said" tags. When reading, I might have skimmed over these, but hearing them repeatedly in the audio format became a bit distracting. However, the strength of the story overshadowed this minor annoyance, and it never detracted from my overall enjoyment.
The narrator’s delivery enhanced the emotional depth of the characters, and I appreciated the way the pacing maintained the tension and romantic excitement. If you’re looking for a story that blends romance, family ties, and the charm of a "Same Time Next Year" kind of relationship, this audiobook is well worth the listen!
